Pedestrian safety

We are thrilled to share the success story of Yaryna Opryshko, one of our talented scholarship recipients. Yaryna initiated a project aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety near her school, and we are proud to say that her efforts have made a significant impact.

Yaryna observed that the pedestrian crossing near her school, located opposite the monument to Stepan Bandera in Stryi, was quite busy with cars and pedestrians, particularly schoolchildren. She decided to install a mannequin of a schoolchild, which is quite common in Europe, to remind drivers that there is a school nearby and encourage them to slow down.

The project was not without its challenges. We had to wait for the necessary permits from the city, develop a project, and create the mannequin, among other details.

However, with perseverance and hard work, we were able to bring Yaryna’s vision to life.

The installation of the mannequin has made a significant difference in pedestrian safety near the school. The schoolchild-shaped mannequin is clearly visible in both daylight and at night due to its reflective materials. It serves as a reminder to drivers to slow down and be cautious while driving near the school.

We are proud of Yaryna for taking the initiative to improve road safety for schoolchildren in our city. Her project is a testament to the positive impact that young people can make in their communities.
